Safety & safeguarding

Your child's safety and wellbeing is always my top priority. Here's how I keep them safe, and what I'll need from you.

Enhanced DBS certificate

The highest level of criminal record check for working with children.

Paediatric First Aid

Trained in first aid for babies and children.

I'm happy to show you my certificates when we meet.

My promises to you

  • I'll follow your routines, house rules and any instructions you give me.
  • I'll never leave your children alone or bring anyone else into your home.
  • I'll never share photos of your children, or post about them online.
  • I'll keep my phone charged and with me so you can always reach me.
  • I'll only give medicine with your written permission and clear instructions.
  • I'll keep anything I learn about your family private.

In an emergency

I'll deal with the situation using my first aid training, call 999 if needed, and contact you straight away. If I can't reach you, I'll call your emergency contact.

If I'm worried about a child

As part of my Early Years training I've learned how to recognise when a child might need help. If a child tells me something worrying, or I'm concerned about their safety, I'll follow safeguarding guidance. This may mean speaking to you, or in some cases contacting Derbyshire's children's services for advice.

What I'll need from you

  • Your mobile number and an emergency contact.
  • Any allergies, medical needs or medication, and your GP's details.
  • Your children's routines, and anything that helps them settle.
  • What time you expect to be home, and how I'll get home afterwards.
  • Where to find the first aid kit, torch and fuse box, and how to lock up.

Any concerns?

If you have any questions or concerns about safety, or about me, please get in touch. I'm always happy to talk things through.
